Hot Mulled Cider
A fragrant, cozy cider perfect for chilly mornings or autumn evenings. Sweetened with maple sugar and spiced with cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and a hint of nutmeg, this cider is simmered with fresh apples and oranges for a comforting, homemade treat. Serve hot, using cinnamon sticks to stir and gently muddle the fruit for extra flavor.

- Servings: 10
Ingredients
- (2-3 TBSP) 1 lb. Maple Sugar
- (1/4 t.) Salt
- (2 qt) 1/2 Gallon Apple Cider (Unpasteurized)
- (1 t.) Whole Allspice
- (1 t.) Whole Cloves
- (5-6) Cinnamon Sticks
- (dash) Nutmeg
- (1-3) Star Anise
- (1-2) Sliced Oranges
- 2 lbs. Fresh Apples
Directions
In a large pot, combine the apple cider, maple sugar, and a pinch of salt. Add sliced oranges and apples, along with your whole spices (cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice, or whatever you like). Warm the mixture slowly until it just starts to boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer, covered, for about 20 minutes. Serve hot, using the cinnamon sticks to stir and gently muddle the fruit for extra flavor.
